A week ago I ordered some parts at Rock Auto, most arrived yesterday. That’s what I call fast service.

A floor pan: at some point, the heater core was leaking, causing the front passenger footwell to rot. It was repaired by screwing some sheetmetal in. At least they used galvanized metal, and they used sealant so no water comes in when driving on a wet road. But the screws are sticking out on he underside and this has to go.

A new molded carpet: the old one is... well... old, and stained, and it tears easily. The new one is also backed with some sound deadening material. The old one was tuxedo black, the new one will be plain turquoise.

And new floormats: I‘ll remove the torn vinyl cover and replace it with some nice carpet, tuxedo turquoise with red bowties. They really tie the interior together.

And I just got an email: the headliner is on it’s way, too. I love fast service.

Yesterday I received (another) order for my Mini delivered from England to the US in one business day.

I’ve placed a number of orders, and it’s never taken more than two business days. Good on you, DHL.

Definitely. The last parts I ordered took 2 months to arrive, and the shop didn’t bother telling me that one of the items I ordered was out of stock, which caused the delay.
Also: the mini is quite the opposite of the spectrum, I could build a carport for it with the Bel Air’s hood :)

McMaster-Carr is some of the fastest service I’ve ever seen. I think they are 1 day shipping for most orders as standard

As far as I can tell, Minispares is the supplier that most other vendors use, too. It’s cheaper for me to buy parts directly from them, and they still get here faster than if I’d used a US supplier.

My only real complaint is that sometimes the parts I get are labeled pretty poorly. They do a good job of marking the part numbers, but sometimes that doesn’t help. For example, if you buy a kit, the parts of the kit often come individually labeled. It gets confusing.

Here’s a part I received yesterday. It was part of a kit, so I wasn’t sure how it worked. This is the somewhat-helpful description:

This is the spacer for fitting either side of the spherical joint or rose joints on lowers arms, made to fit all our lower arms with this type of fitment.

It makes sense, it just took me a while to stomach it. But does the spacer go on the threaded part? On the shaft? Someplace else? It’s obvious once I looked at the old arm, but really confusing to get a part you didn’t order by number that has a clumsy description.

Other than that, Minispares does an incredible job. They had no problem modifying my order (to add and substitute a few things I’d forgotten or ordered incorrectly) and they’re usually quite responsive. Just have to be aware of the time change!

It’s so cheap, too! International Courier delivered a 5' x 2' x 1' box weighing about 40lb for something like $87.50 .

I couldn’t even overnight that package to the next town over for $87.50.

I live about 5 minutes from their warehouse; I used to live about 2 hours out and would get stuff next-morning, now I just pick it up after work (they do will call).
